Two “Thrivent Builds” Habitat houses have been completed and are offered for sale in the Twin Cities.  Both dwellings are located on Pacific Street in St. Paul.

Dedication for the two new homes took place September 16.  Homebuyers are the Kelemua Wodesenbet and Xai Lee families.

Xai’s wife, Yee Yang (pictured at left with her husband and young child), said she saw the opportunity to purchase a “Thrivent Builds” Habitat house as “a dream come true.”

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity works to eliminate poverty housing and construct decent, affordable shelter for people.  Volunteer labor, donated materials and contributed funds are used to build and renovate homes.  Habitat charges no interest on the homes it sells.  Purchasers are selected on the basis of need, ability to repay the mortgage and willingness to partner by contributing “sweat equity.”

“Thrivent Builds” is a four-year project with a commitment of $105 million from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans [to Habitat for Humanity International].  It is currently Habitat’s largest single ally and aims to increase home building by 500 units.
