The Jimmy Carter Work Project (JCWP) will take place in Los Angeles, CA, October 28-November 2. The build will include the usual one week, blitz-style building, but this year there will be a twist. The A Brush with Kindness program (ABWK), first started at Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH), will provide a new model of home repair for a major part of the build. ABWK works with existing homeowners to help them stay in their homes by utilizing volunteer support to provide minor home repairs. The program was created by Pat Lund, now Program Manager of ABWK at TCHFH. Lund has been working with Habitat for Humanity International to launch ABWK programs for other Habitat affiliates in the US and Canada. This year’s JCWP will serve as a kick-off for other ABWK programs, as 65 homes are renovated during the one week build.
