Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity uses volunteer labor to repair tools and materials used in building simple, decent, and affordable houses. Volunteer ImpactWarehouse Volunteers are essential for Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to achieve its mission. Having the right tools and equipment makes the on-site experience rewarding and productive. Repairing tools with volunteer labor saves thousands of dollars a year for our affiliate. SkillsA working knowledge of small engine repair and maintenance, mechanical skills, and electrical repair are helpful. Age RequirementsTool Repair Volunteers must be age 18 or older. Time CommitmentWarehouse Volunteers make a long-term commitment of six months to a year, devoting one day a week to perform ongoing tasks. Some may choose to concentrate on special projects when available. The workday is 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays. Opportunities for involvement are limited. Volunteers for tool repair must be willing to come in on Wednesdays until fully trained. Training and SupervisionVolunteers required to attend an orientation with the Individual Volunteer Coordinator. Warehouse training will occur on site under the supervision of Habitat for Humanity warehouse staff members. |
