Warehouse - Driver PDF Print E-mail

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity uses volunteer labor to build homes with low-income families. The warehouse uses volunteer labor to store and supply building materials for these efforts. Warehouse volunteers also repair tools and components and maintain stock levels.

Volunteer Impact

Warehouse Volunteers are essential for helping Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity achieve its mission. Those who supply materials to the construction site play an important role in providing the opportunity for a family in need to have a decent and affordable place to call home.

Skills

  • Experience driving a 20′truck and pulling trailers with a pick-up truck.
  • Lift 50–70 pounds
  • Bend, lift, push and pull materials and tools in and out of vehicles
  • Walk and climb on uneven surfaces, ladders, and stairs
  • Accurately fill orders from pickup tickets
  • All drivers must submit a copy of their current driver’s license and drivers of the 20′truck must pass DOT certification.

Age Requirements

All volunteer drivers must be at least 25 years-old.

Time Commitment

Warehouse Volunteers make a long-term commitment of six months to a year, devoting one day a week to perform on-going tasks. One may choose to concentrate on special projects when available. Limited volunteer opportunities run from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Monday–Thursday.

Training and Supervision

Volunteers are required to attend an orientation with the Individual Volunteer Coordinator. Warehouse training will occur on site under the supervision of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity warehouse staff members, specifically Dennis Chick.
