A panel plant volunteer will assist the supervisor in the panel plant, located at the warehouse. The volunteer will assist with wall panel layout and lead other volunteers in the construction of panels. Volunteer ImpactThis person is essential for Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to meet production goals. As the volunteer panel plant assistant, this volunteer will help to expand production and to insure the completion of panels according to our construction schedule. In addition, the trained volunteer assistant will provide the flexibility for the panel plant supervisor to be absent when necessary without hurting the completion schedule. SkillsDue to the technical nature of panel layout and construction, this volunteer should be experienced in framing carpentry, residential housing, blueprint reading, wall layout and power tool use. Also, the volunteer assistant must have the people skills and patience to successfully teach and lead unskilled and semi-skilled volunteers in framing construction. Age Requirement18 years of age or older Time CommitmentDue to scheduling and production goals and the use of scheduled volunteer workers, this volunteer should be able to commit one or two days per week (or 4–8 days per month) on a predictable basis. The workday is 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Because of training and the expected learning curve, this commitment should be for a minimum of 6 months.
