Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is hosting a press conference at the site of one of their Chaska homes on Tuesday, November 20 at 11 a.m.  The press event will provide details of a $1.4 million Strategic Land Acquisition funding award.  Speakers at the event include First Lady Mary Pawlenty, Minnesota Housing Commissioner Timothy Marx, Metropolitan Council Chair Peter Bell, Chaska Mayor Gary F. Van Eyll and Susan Haigh, president of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.

WHY:
The rate of single family home closings are steadily declining in the Twin Cities, yet the demand for affordable homeownership opportunities is enormous.  The Minnesota Housing Finance Agency has placed funding priority on community developers that possess a reliable track record of success and a proven marketability of their homes.  Given current market conditions, Minnesota Housing and the Family Housing Fund are issuing the first of its kind Strategic Land Acquisition award to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.   Officials will be on hand to provide details of the award and development plans.
