Affordable housing advocates have long understood that housing is more than just "bricks and mortar." New publications from the Center for Housing Policy collect and analyze recent studies that discuss the ways housing may affect health and educational outcomes for families. Research reveals that decent, affordable housing can: -Reduce health problems associated with exposure to allergens, neurotoxins, and other household dangers; -Help families to avoid unwanted moves so that children' educational progress is not impaired; and -Decrease residential crowding or other housing-related stress that lead to negative developmental outcomes for children.
