Edina man builds giant ice castle (KSTP) PDF Print E-mail

After seven years of disappointment, an Edina man's quest to build an enormous ice castle finally became a reality Thursday.

James Westin started construction on a three-level, 22-foot castle in his backyard on Dec. 5.

In the past, warm weather has melted the creations before Westin could finish them.

But this year has been a different story. He and volunteers from Habitat for Humanity constructed the castle after hundreds of hours of hard work.

You can tour the castle for free from Thursday through Saturday.

Donations for Habitat for Humanity will be accepted.

It will be lit and open to the public from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Feb. 7 through 9, at 4501 Garrison Lane in Edina.
