The fact that these sounds are coming from a Habitat build on 124th Street, however, certainly is new. For the first time since its inception, Twin Cities Habitat is building in Scott County in the southwest portion of the metro area.
Thanks to an outstanding relationship with the Scott County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, a twin home will be sold to two excited first-time homebuyers this December.
Additionally, in Wayzata, construction is scheduled to begin this summer on two twin homes in cooperation with the Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners (IOCP). In exchange for IOCP bearing the cost of obtaining the land and improving the infrastructure, Habitat will build both of these twins and give one to IOCP, who will use it for affordable rentals. Habitat will retain the other twin home and sell it to families in early 2007.
The homes will be located on Gleason Lake Road, close to the beautiful shorelines of Lake Minnetonka. While not quite a lake view, this pastoral location with its beautiful amenities will make a wonderful addition to the Habitat family.

The sound of hammers and saws ringing out across previously undeveloped land is hardly new to the fast-growing Village of Savage.
