Community Builder Award goes to Woodbury Mayor PDF Print E-mail

bill_hargisBecause Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity has thousands of dedicated and valuable supporters, one of the most difficult tasks of the year is to single out just one for special recognition.  But when an individual's contributions are as noteworthy as those of Mayor Bill Hargis of Woodbury, the job becomes much easier.

Finding land to build on is a challenge that TCHFH must contend with on a daily basis.  Mayors who are supportive of our work and partner with us in obtaining land in their communities are exceptional.  And Mayor Bill Hargis is one of those exceptional people.  Mayor Hargis has been a staunch supporter of our work during the past year, making it possible to build more Habitat homes in Woodbury than in any other suburb to date.  Currently, Woodbury is the site of 28 Habitat homes and that number will grow to 48 homes by the end of 2007.

On April 29, Mayor Hargis was presented with the Community Builder Award at the Hard Hat & Black Tie Gala, held at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis.  The award is a mere token of the gratitude that we feel for Mayor Hargis and the City of Woodbury for making affordable housing a priority.  Mayor Hargis—we salute you!
