All products and materials in the ReStore are donated by organizations and individuals who support Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. Donating to the ReStore is smart (you get a tax deduction), green (items don’t go into landfills) and good (sales support Habitat projects). Please help us spread the word! Drop Off Your Donations – It’s Easy!
Please bring your donation to the ReStore, located at 510 County Road D West, New Brighton, MN 55112 (View Map). If you are unable to transport your donation, a truck pick-up can be scheduled. A suggested $20 tax-deductible donation helps us cover the rising cost of gas and maintenance. Click here to schedule a truck pick-up. Items we cannot accept.
Items Accepted for Donation
All items are subject to visual inspection and approval by staff.
Bricks or Block: New or used, free of dirt or mortar.
Cabinets: New or used. Must be intact and clean with doors attached, accepted with or without countertops. No metal cabinets. No water damage/mold. Less than 30 years old.
Countertops: Full pieces only. No sections with sink cutouts or corners. 20 years old or newer. Must be clean.
Carpet: New carpet only, no used carpet or padding.
Doors: New or used* Exterior, interior, wood, steel, patio, French, and siding glass doors. No used hollow core doors.
Electrical: Rust free, new or like new components. Switch plates, switches, fuses, breakers, conduit and etc.
Fireplace Inserts: Working condition with no dents or cracks in the firewall.
Flooring: New Hardwoods (used* if in good condition with nails removed). Ceramic tile, granite, marble and vinyl. Minimum quantities: 1 box of tile, hardwoods, and laminates, 6 ft x 6 ft on new vinyl remnants.
Hardware: New, full boxes of nails, bolts, screws, and various other items. New or like new doorknobs. Entry locksets must have keys present.
HVAC: Electric or gas furnaces and air conditioning units in excellent condition, not more than 5 years old. No rust or excessive dust build up. Ducts, fitting, and outlets.
Insulation: Various types. R-13 and up.
Lighting: Must work, no rust or old wiring. Bulbs must be removed. (Due to the quantity of brass light fixtures we receive, we may or may not take in these fixtures.)
Mirrors: No cracks, chips or scratches. No unframed mirrors or plates of glass.
Office Furniture: Clean and in good condition. No more than 7 years old. No particle board tables or desks.
Paint: Only new, unused, premixed latex paints. No oil based paints or unmixed bases. All paint will be opened and thoroughly checked before it is accepted.
Plumbing: PVC, copper, ABS, galvanized and black fittings and lengths of pipe more than 3 ft.
Plywood: Minimum 2×4 sheets in any thickness.
Siding: New only, all types. One square (100 sq. ft.) or more preferred.
Sinks: Kitchen, bathroom, bar and laundry. No rust marks, stains or chips.
Toilets: Must be sparkling clean. No chips, rust marks or water stains; fully drained. Only new toilet seats.
Tools: Power tools and hand tools. Must be clean and in good working condition. All parts must be present (batteries, and chuck keys, etc.).
Tubs: Clean with no chips, rust stains or water marks.
Water Heaters: Electric or gas. Not more than 5 years old. No rust. Must be working and not leaking.
Windows: New or slightly used in any size or configuration. No single pane windows. No more than 15 years old. No mold, mildew or rot. No broken glass. No hail damage.
Window Covering: New blinds only. No drapes or shades.
Items We CANNOT Accept for Donation
- TVs, computers, or any electronics
- Mercury thermostats
- Upholstered furniture
- Partial containers of paint, chemicals or other products
- Clothing
- Household goods (pots, pans, dishes, small electrics, etc.)
- Chemicals, flammable materials, aerosol containers
- Exercise equipment
- Sofa beds, mattresses, box springs, waterbeds
- Weapons, ammunition
- Baby furniture or equipment
- Propane cylinders
- Single pane windows/storm windows
- Items recalled by Consumer Products Safety Commission
- Used smoke/carbon monoxide detectors
- Other items that are deemed unsafe or unsellable
