CenterPoint celebrates 20 years in style

Last week employees from CenterPoint Energy celebrated 20 years of partnering with Twin Cities Habitat by volunteering at sites in Columbia Heights and Savage. Early in the week volunteers were greeted to a very wet build site in Columbia Heights due to heavy rains over the weekend. The group worked on setting the last couple truces, installing roof sheeting and setting windows. On Thursday volunteers moved out to Savage where siding and trim was completed.

Since joining forces with Twin Cites Habitat approximately 1,700 of the company’s employees and retirees have completed more than 14,000 hours of Habitat volunteer work. They’ve helped build homes for hardworking low-income families all around the metro. 

CenterPoint Energy has a unique program called Give Grants that helps encourage volunteerism. Once someone completes 40 hours of service, CenterPoint Energy gives them money ($300 for current employees or $200 for retirees) to donate to the charity.
