Buying a home is such a great accomplishment but can also be extremely nerve wracking. Here are five things you need to know before you buy a home.

1. Know your neighborhood. Research city resources and ordinances. Drive by the property at different times of the day.

2. Get a home inspection. Make sure they are a licensed inspector and do the walk through with them. They know what to look for when it comes to what needs to be repaired. And look for these home inspection deal breakers while you're at it.

3. Shop around for your homeowners insurance.

4. Get to know your neighbors, as they can give you lots of helpful information (ex. "property taxes went up last year").

5. Take a first time homebuyer class!
