General Mills Volunteers Help Repair A Veterans Home

General Mills Veterans brought out tool belts, home improvement skills and a “can-do” attitude during a Habitat for Humanity (HFH) “A Brush with Kindness” day on October 11th.  The event was sponsored by General Mills to support the “A Brush with Kindness” program that mobilizes community volunteers who paint, and make repairs to homes of low-income homeowners so they can continue to live in a safe, affordable and decent home.

Cindy Lehner-Smith, the job supervisor for HFH remarked on the team’s hard work, teamwork and efficiency on finishing a difficult siding project.  “This group of veterans really came to work”!

A common refrain from General Mills Veterans was that the day was made more special by the fact that we were able to help a retired Army veteran, Juventino Cortez and his wife, Judy make difficult repairs and painting that would have been very hard for the retired couple to manage without the extra helping hands. Job well done!
