Thank you Veterans!

Thank you Veterans!

On this Veterans Day, we at Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity want to offer our sincere thanks to all the men and women who serve in our Armed Forces! Over the past year, we've become much more connected to the Veteran community here in the Twin Cities. Through our Veterans Initiative we're reaching out to try and serve as many Veterans and their families that could benefit from our programs and services.

Twin Cities Habitat is a Yellow Ribbon organization

  • We want help more Veterans become Habitat homebuyers
  • We want to help more Veterans with repairs to their home through A Brush With Kindness
  • We want to partner with more Veterans who are looking for volunteer opportunities that connect them to their community

On this Veterans Day, a crew of Veterans connected to Twin Cities Habitat byway of Target is volunteering together on a home rehab project in Robbinsdale. Hundreds of Veterans have come out and done similar work with Habitat over the past year.

Recently we hired Alex Schueller as our new Veterans Outreach Coordinator. Served in the Marines before graduating from the University of Minnesota. He is already making connections through the media and Veterans support organizations to help get the word out that Twin Cities Habitat wants to connect with as many Veterans as possible. Alex also wanted to make sure Veterans got this link http://www.military.com/veterans-day/veterans-day-military-discounts.html which has a list of free meals and discounts that Veterans are eligible for on Veterans Day. Please take advantage of the benefits that you've earned.

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity launched our Veterans Initiative in 2012. This effort resulted in us earning Beyond the Yellow Ribbon recognition last fall. Unfortunately, Veterans are disproportionally affected by the challenges of affordable housing. Twin Cities Habitat wants to do everything it can to rectify this. If you are a Veteran, or know a Veteran, who may benefit from any of our programs please contact us.
