Help Filipino families affected by Typhoon Haiyan

Posted by Patrick Dunn on 11:28 AM on November 13, 2013

describe the imageAmerican forces were dispatched to the Philippines as the Pacific island country struggled to cope after one of the most powerful storms in recorded history killed thousands and wreaked damage far worse than expected. Recorded as the strongest storm the world has seen this year, Typhoon Haiyan has affected over 9.6 million Filipinos in 41 different provinces. Of these, more than 430,000 are currently housed in evacuation centers.

Habitat for Humanity is appealing for funds to assist families and help them rebuild their lives and gain access to decent shelter. Habitat staff are on the ground assessing the situation and coordinating with the government agencies and other partners on the disaster response operations. In the initial phase, Habitat’s country office in the Philippines has targeted to distribute 30,000 shelter kits for home repairs and 50,000 clean-up kits to families affected by the disaster.

In order for Habitat Philippines to help the affected families in the provinces, Habitat needs funding to assemble these kits. This amount can help families repair even the most heavily damaged houses.

We are hoping that you'll also extend your helping hands to the families affected by the wrath of Super Typhoon Haiyan. Please give today.
