The Power of Women Impacting Community Luncheon & Salon Discussion

As seen on KARE 11 this morning, our Women of Habitat program is hosting The Power of Women Impacting Community Luncheon & Salon Discussion on Thursday, November 21. The event will take place from noon - 1:30 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church at 1900 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403.

Meet the Panelists:

Mary Brainerd, President and CEO of Bloomington-based HealthPartners

Mary Brainerd is president and chief executive officer for HealthPartners, a family of nonprofit Minnesota health care organizations headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 

As president and CEO, Ms. Brainerd leads one of the largest health care organizations in the country. HealthPartners is comprised of a diverse group of organizations, including HealthPartners, a 630,000 member, consumer-governed health plan; HealthPartners Medical Group & Clinics; RiverWay Clinics; North Suburban Clinics; HealthPartners Central Minnesota Clinics; HealthPartners Dental Group & Clinics; Regions Hospital; Regions Hospital Foundation; HealthPartners Research Foundation; HealthPartners Institute for Medical Education and Group Health, Inc. More than 600 physicians and 9,600 total employees serve patients and members at 52 locations.

Dr. Reatha Clark King, Former President and Board Chair, General Mills Foundation

Dr. Reatha Clark King was hired at General Mills as executive director of the General Mills Foundation and vice president of the General Mills Corporation. She retired in 2002, but remained with General Mills for one additional year as chair of the board of directors. Since 1979, King has served on numerous corporate and nonprofit boards, including the Exxon Mobil Company, H.B. Fuller Company, Wells Fargo & Company, Minnesota Mutual Insurance Company, University of Chicago, American Council on Education and the Council on Foundations. In 2011, she began her service with Allina Health Systems as a corporate director. 

Tina Smith, Chief of Staff Office of Governor Mark Dayton and Lt. Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon 

Raised in New Mexico, Smith got an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. After moving to the Twin Cities for an entry-level marketing job at General Mills, she became active in local politics, generally preferring candidates with a long liberal streak. She once served as a vice president of Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Moderated by Sue Haigh, President & CEO Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and Board Chair Metropolitan Council

Susan Haigh has led Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity as its CEO and President since February 2005. Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is one of the most successful Habitat affiliates in the United States serving the entire seven county Twin Cities region. Along with working for Habitat, Haigh serves as the Metropolitan Council Chair. She has served on the Minnesota Housing Partnership Board, the Minnesota Housing Commissioner’s Resource Advisory Committee, Habitat for Humanity U.S. Council’s Finance Committee, Park Bank Board, and the Macalester College Board of Trustees. She is also a member of the International Women’s Foundation and the New Century Club.
