Today we worked at the Habitat panel plant in San Juan de la Maguana. Our Habitat engineer, Hannlex Jimenez (Alex), showed us how to make the concrete panels that will be used for walls in future homes. There were six two-inch panels per rack, and we manufactured twelve of these. Some of us helped feed the mixer and others transported the concrete by wheelbarrow to the racks. Others shoveled in the concrete and finished the panels.
Panel Plan in Dominican Panel Plant in Minneapolis
You could see our progress as the racks of panels were stacked up; it reminded me of the Habitat panel plant back home in Northeast Minneapolis. I would have never thought that a system similar to the Minneapolis panel plant could be used to make concrete panels here in the Dominican Republic.
