In 2010, Twin Cities Habitat began allocating a portion of the money raised locally to support Habitat Costa Rica. In addition to this financial support, Twin Cities Habitat organizes trips for local volunteers to travel to and build in Costa Rica.

Many people in Costa Rica live without proper plumbing and rely on charcoal or wood stoves for cooking. Dirt floors are not uncommon in some parts of the country and tens of thousands of Costa Ricans only have access to pit toilets.
