Volunteers from Andersen Corporation are on site this week, framing the second floor of the latest Garden Gate development in Woodbury. This project, now in its third week, will include three bedrooms in each of the four units currently under construction. 3M CARES volunteers were on site for the first two weeks. Next week, volunteers will continue framing the second floor and begin work on the roof trusses said Jake Kirchgessner, who is supervising the build with Floyd Hansen.
“It’s been a nice, safe build thus far. Everybody seems to be enjoying themselves,” Jake reported.
The Garden Gate development includes single-family homes, condominiums and townhouses; there are 4 40 affordable housing units and 76 market rate units. The community is located near lakes, ponds and several walking trails, as well as schools, shopping and recreational areas.
Including the four homes they worked on this week, Andersen has sponsored a total of 19 Habitat homes in the Garden Gate development since 2005. Andersen donated $650,000 in cash to sponsor the homes and has donated all the windows for the homes in this community. The construction site is located seven miles from the company’s headquarters in Bayport, Minnesota.
