Thomas Avenue North Rehab

Update 2- August 13, 2010

The roof of the house on Thomas Ave is almost complete, and volunteers are just about finished with shingling. All the windows have been installed, along with a new heating system. These new additions will create a warm and secure home for our homebuyers during the winter months. More than half of the home is now sided (except for the front, which will keep its original brick), and some volunteers have been painting it with a cheery yellow to match the garage. In the next week or so, site supervisor Craig Norton says that the crew should be finished with the entire exterior of the home.

Update 1- July 26, 2010

This rehab project is only in its third week of construction, but a lot has already been done on the home. Many of the walls inside have been knocked out, along with the ceiling on the second level. Volunteers this week are on the roof adding fascia and shingling, while others are in the basement doing demolition work. AmeriCorps member Alex Robinson says that they’ll be continuing to work on the roof this week as well as beginning to lay the bathroom floor.
