Minnetonka-based Carlson helps make the world a smaller, friendlier place through its global network of travel services, restaurants and hotels. But it is also helping build A World of Hope through its support of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.
“Carlson’s employee volunteers are proud to be a partner of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, an organization that does so much good for so many in our community,” says Rautio.
The homebuyer, Melanie, and her four children have been in their home a couple weeks and they love it. At the dedication ceremony, Melanie thanked Habitat, Carlson and all the volunteers who helped build her home. She's now planning long term. "My goals now are to finish my nursing degree, save for college for my kids and save for some of the projects we want to do to improve our new home."
Carlson's two house sponsorship gifts have been a part of the 4-year, $36M A World of Hope Campaign. Twin Cities Habitat launched this effort in 2009 to respond to the foreclosure crisis and increase the number of families we serve with our programs. So far the results have been tremendous; 168 Habitat homes built and sold to Twin Cities families, 443 repair projects completed through A Brush with Kindness, 5,000 people educated and counseled on successful homeownership practices, and 220 homes funded and built in our tithe partner countries of Costa Rica, Mozambique and Haiti.
We are closing in our World of Hope goals but we need more donations and more volunteers to hit them all before the campaign ends in June 2013. Then, we'll need your continued support as we move forward with our Strategic Plan for 2013-2015.
