The home was up and ready for move-in in an astonishing six weeks with construction beginning on Tuesday, May 29th and wrapping-up the first week of July. Construction time of an average Habitat home last 3 months from framing to final punch list and trim. Ryland’s exemplary home construction expertise was not the company’s sole contribution to the speedy blitz build. Ryland also provided all necessary project management, design, site supervision, and warehousing.
The home will soon be occupied by current St. Paul, MN resident Marta Dawano and her two children Fromsa and Meti. Marta is a first time homeowner who emigrated from Kenya in 2003. She is excited that her new home meets her two highest priority as homeowner; it’s located in a good neighborhood with great schools. Marta’s son Fromsa attends preschools and loves trucks, running outside, and macaroni and cheese. Meti, Marta’s one year old daughter, loves to play with toys and open presents on Christmas.
The annual Builders Blitz is a partnership between Habitat for Humanity affiliates and America’s Building community to ensure more families have a chance to own a safe, simple, decent home. The goal for the 2012 Builders Blitz is to build or restore more than 200 homes in 100 different communities around the country.
