New South Minneapolis ReStore Grand Opening Dates Announced

Written by John Hagerman | 8:04 PM on August 16, 2016

You’re invited to 2700 Minnehaha Ave, September 15-17, to celebrate the Grand Opening of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity’s newest ReStore. ReStore is Habitat’s discount home improvement outlet. Open to the public, ReStore carries new and gently used building materials, cabinets, appliances, furniture, flooring, plumbing, hardware, lighting, tools, and more, all at 50% - 70% off retail prices.

The Twin Cities' own Amy Matthews, host of DIY Network's Sweat Equity and Bathroom Renovations, and HGTV's Renovation Raiders, will be on hand giving tips on home DIY projects on the 17th. Along with hosting her own DIY shows, Matthews is a licensed contractor who was born in Robbinsdale

To make the new store a success, ReStore needs your help. Whether you’re an individual, or a business, you can bring your unneeded materials and supplies to the new store’s drive-up donation door, which is due to open September 1st. If you’ve got bigger items, like your old cabinets and appliances, you can visit restore.tchabitat.org to request a free pickup.

ReStore is all about recycling, reusing and repurposing unneeded but still usable products. It’s great for the environment, and great for the community. Last fiscal year, the original ReStore at 510 County Road D in New Brighton had over $1 million in sales and made enough earned revenue to sponsor the construction of 6 new homes. With the addition of the South Minneapolis ReStore, Habitat hopes to build even more homes for Twin Cities family’s to buy with affordable mortgages.

Everyone at ReStore is looking forward to meeting you!
