As volunteers return from their week off – lucky for them, last week’s heat wave fell during Habitat staff’s prep week – the house on Edgerton is really starting to take shape. Site Supervisor Josh Waylander reports the subcontractors’ work in heating, plumbing and electrical is wrapping up, and the windows, doors and roof have all been installed.
Volunteer crews from Travelers began siding on Monday, and have been working hard through the heat.
“We’ve been drinking down the water and we get enough shade time,” added Waylander.
Since 1990, Travelers has committed over 3,000 volunteers and 50,000 volunteer hours to sponsor and build 22 homes in the Twin Cities.
