Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (MLK Day), is
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'”
To honor Dr. King's work, the holiday has been declared a day of service in the United States. This gives people a chance to come together to strengthen their neighborhoods and communities. As many businesses and schools are closed, families and friends have the opportunity to volunteer together.
In 2015, hundreds of thousands of Americans honored Dr. King by packing meals, building homes, mentoring students, collecting clothes and food, and participating in other service projects throughout the nation.
Looking for ways you can give back on January 18th?
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity will need volunteers all over the Twin Cities area on MLK Day. Bring out a team or volunteer as an individual.
We have volunteer opportunities available for homebuilding individuals in St. Paul and at our ReStore in New Brighton.
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity would not be able to do the work we do without our volunteers. Each year, over 17,000 people volunteer with Twin Cities Habitat. Last year on MLK Day, high school and college groups, along with congregations and AmeriCorps members from around the Twin Cities volunteered with Habitat.
