Annie has lived in the home since 1971 and could not bear the thought of losing the home she had worked so hard to buy. An active volunteer in her community, she heard of A Brush with Kindness and decided to apply. Annie was very excited when she received the news that she had been chosen to receive assistance.
“I was just jumping for joy when A Brush with Kindness said they were going to help me!” she said. A Brush with Kindness and volunteers from Prime Therapeutics helped Annie maintain her home by washing, scraping, priming and painting the exterior her home as well as garage.
After having knee surgery last winter, Annie slipped and fell on her crumbling steps. The fall disrupted her recovery and she is worried every time she enters or leaves her home. A Brush with Kindness and volunteers hope to demolish and rebuild her steps soon so she no longer has to worry. The home means a lot to Annie and she enjoys inviting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren over for holidays and summer picnics. She is grateful for the help because it will allow her to stay in the home as well as stay healthy.
“I’ve got to stay active to keep my mind going,” Annie says. She is thankful for the help she has received through A Brush with Kindness and hopes to continue volunteering in her community for years to come.
