New A Brush with Kindness Volunteer Opportunity!

Written by Becky Engen | 1:53 AM on September 26, 2014

Current homeowners in the Twin Cities are in need of home repair help!  Volunteers who have excellent communication skills, are organized, compassionate and analytical are needed to interview potential partner families for our A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) Program. Volunteers will be assessing the homeowner’s need and willingness to partner with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.  By completing in-home interviews, volunteers will work directly with potential partners and contribute immensely to our home repair project pool.  Volunteers are expected to make a year commitment, attend committee meetings as scheduled and complete a minimum of 6 interviews monthly.

Home Assessments provide information that gives Habitat staff a much more thorough picture of the homeowner’s situation that can’t be gained from the information listed on the original application. Staff members will train our new volunteers to assess health and safety needs of a home, and staff will compare these alongside other ABWK applicants, to help determine the priority of the projects. Learn more about the home assessment process in this blog post.
