This summer, we announced an exciting new program starting at [Twin Cities Habitat](https://www.tchabitat.org/). Beginning this fall, Habitat volunteers will be out in the community initiating our [Age in Place ](https://www.tchabitat.org/blog/help-older-homeowners-stay-safe-in-their-homes)pilot —helping seniors with house chores so they can live safely and comfortably in their home as long as possible.

For a few weeks in November, volunteers will work half or full day shifts doing yard clean-up, including leaf raking, pruning, removing invasive plants, and garden maintenance. The projects will take place throughout the metro: SE Minneapolis, North Minneapolis, Roseville, White Bear Lake, Mounds View and Frogtown in St. Paul.

We are thrilled with the number of [volunteers](https://www.tchabitat.org/volunteer) who have signed up to participate in the pilot of this program. Currently, we have group and individual opportunities to be involved in the fall chore services. [Groups of volunteers](https://www.tchabitat.org/volunteer/groups) can be recruited from your place of work, faith group, school, or even from family and friends! The timing for these projects is flexible, and both weekend and weekday opportunities are available.

Individual volunteers can let us know they're interested in participating with the chore services, or becoming a Volunteer Leader. Volunteer Leads are an essential part of our ability to provide this service. As a leader, you would be working directly with homeowner clients and Habitat staff to come up with a workplan based on the client's needs. Leads are essential for bringing this service to the people who need them!

None of this work could be done without the support from our agency referral partners: [Frogtown Neighborhood Association](http://www.frogtownmn.org/), [Jordan Area Community Council](http://www.jordanmpls.org/), [Southeast Seniors serving prospect park, Marcy Holmes, and Como neighborhoods in Southeast Minneapolis](http://www.seseniorsmpls.org/), and [Northwest Youth and Family Services serving Suburban Ramsey County](http://www.nyfs.org/).

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at [volunteer@tchabitat.org](mailto:volunteer@tchabitat.org) or call 612-305-7114
