Global Engagement

Habitat for Humanity’s work expands outside of the Twin Cities into nearly 70 countries around the world. As part of this work, Twin Cities Habitat supports the global mission through its Global Impact Fund, and leads Global Village trips to international destinations.

While Global Village trips are currently paused, our Global Impact Fund supports our local partners. Thanks to our generous donors, we consistently give to our international partner affiliates in Ethiopia, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Nicaragua, as well as other high need affiliates as determined by Habitat for Humanity International.

Annually, we coordinate a Global Village Gone Local build week on one of our local build sites to reunite past Global Village participants, connect the work locally, and raise financial support for the local and global mission. To learn more about our Global Engagement opportunities, please contact Noah Keller at globalvillage@tchabitat.org or fill out the form below.

Partner Affiliates & Build Locations

Ethiopia

Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia has been serving families since 1993. Twin Cities Habitat is excited about local connections to our partner affiliate! In recent years, more than 40% of our homebuyers in the Twin Cities have families in Ethiopia. We are looking forward to deepening this connection.

Haiti

Habitat for Humanity International has been working in Haiti since the mid-1980s. The need for housing intensified dramatically following the 2010 earthquake that displaced more than two million people. A lot of work is being done by Habitat for Humanity by leveraging the local labor force.

Dominican Republic

Habitat Dominican Republic has partnered with more than 12,000 families to improve housing situations and increase stability. While many projects are new construction, they also strengthens existing structures. Habitat Dominican Republic has helped with hurricane recovery since 2017.

Guatemala

Just as it is in the United States, access to safe, stable housing is linked to health, education, employment, and more in Guatemala. Since the pandemic, Twin Cities Habitat has financially supported Habitat Guatemala so they can continue their work uninterrupted.

Nicaragua

Habitat Nicaragua has supported their community since 1984. Microloans through microfinancing institutions help fund housing improvements and technical construction assistance.
