St. Francis, New Build

St. Francis, New Build

Update 2- July 19, 2010bunny1

Today marks the seventh week of construction for this new build, and progress continues to keep pace. The exterior now boasts two significant developments— a front porch and detached garage, both of which are nearly finished. The exterior will continue to evolve this week as site supervisor Lynda Bouley and her team focus on siding. Today volunteers from a local church are helping paint the wood panels that will be put up later this week by a regular crew of retirees. Volunteers are also fastening furring strips to the concrete basement in preparation for the next major interior task — drywall.

Update 1- June 30, 2010bunny 2

A sunny day in St. Francis revealed a lively new build, well into its fourth week of construction. Despite June’s rainy weather, an experienced regular crew of volunteers and local groups have kept things running smoothly since work began in late May. The garage's foundation and framing are in place, but site supervisor Lynda Bouley says the team will primarily focus on the house in coming weeks. The home’s exterior is being “weathered in” with insulation and housewrap before siding can be applied. On the interior, the crew is finishing framing before installing insulation.
