Media Guidelines
Please review and adhere to the details of the 2024 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project Media Credentialing Form:
Check-In/Check-Out
- Media are required to check in and check out daily at the media registration tent, which will be located at the entrance to the build site. A government-issued photo ID and proof of media affiliation (e.g., badge, business card) is required and will be requested at check-in.
- At check-in, each member of the media will be provided with a hard hat and a badge. Hard hats must be worn at all times while on the build site; they do not need to be returned at the end of the day. If you return to site another day, please bring your hard hat with you. The hard hat is yours to keep after the project. Badges must be returned upon check-out each day.
- At check-in, all media will be paired with a Habitat representative who will escort them at all times while on the build site. Media escorts serve as coordinators as well as safety monitors, who can remove media that do not adhere to worksite safety guidelines.
- Corporate partner/sponsor media who have checked in as media, but have also registered as a construction volunteer, must check out at the media registration tent prior to beginning volunteer shifts.
- Media professionals who have not submitted a credentialing form or are unable to provide verification of media affiliation will not be allowed onsite.
Filming/Photography Guidelines
- Requests for interviews with homeowners, volunteers, and Habitat leadership must be coordinated through the designated media escort. Filming and photography may be conducted at homes under construction, within reason, while under the supervision of a designated media escort.
- To ensure safety and prevent disruption of work, all media will need to request permission from the construction house leader through their media escort to film or take photos of house construction. Access to the house will be denied during overhead work (e.g., setting trusses, roof sheathing, shingling, etc.) All media are to follow the rules and guidelines as set by the construction house leader and media escort.
- During the press conference, morning devotions, and the opening and closing ceremonies, all media professionals will be required to set up in the designated media area. Audio feed will be available via mult box.
- Media professionals interested in capturing images and/or b-roll of Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will need to do so from the designated media area, which will be located approximately 10-15 feet from the build activity. While Mr. Brooks and Ms. Yearwood are building, please refrain from asking them questions or requesting posed photographs.

About Carter Work Project
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is pleased to host the 2024 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project from September 29 through October 4, 2024. The Carter Work Project is an annual event hosted by Habitat for Humanity International in partnership with a local Habitat Affiliate. The 2024 event is the second time the event has been held in the Twin Cities —the first one having taken place in 2010.
From 1984 to 2019, Habitat’s most famous volunteers, President Jimmy Carter and the late First Lady Rosalynn Carter, donated one week of their time each year to build safe and affordable homes worldwide. Together, the Carters have worked alongside more than 104,000 volunteers in 14 countries to build, renovate and repair 4,390 homes.
The 2024 Carter Work Project will take place over President Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday and will be hosted by Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, who will be building a home along with more than 4,000 volunteers from across Minnesota and the country. The crew is set to work on the first 30 homes of The Heights development in the Greater East Side of St. Paul that week.
The Heights is Twin Cities Habitat’s largest development ever, and the largest modern-day investment on St. Paul’s East Side. Twin Cities Habitat will build 74 units in Phase 1 of The Heights, 30 of which will be part of the Carter Work Project. In total, Twin Cities Habitat will build 147 units. More details on The Heights can be found here.

About Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity
Homeownership is transformational for families and communities. Owning a home leads to better health, education outcomes, quality of life, and economic opportunity. And homeownership is the primary way families build wealth and pass it on to future generations. But the Twin Cities region faces a housing crisis and worst-in-the-nation racial disparities in homeownership. That’s why we’re committed to expanding homeownership and advancing racial equity across the seven-county metro area. Learn more about Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.
Build Forward Together Strategic Plan

About The Heights
Affordable homes are coming to The Heights in St. Paul! The 2024 Carter Work Project will launch Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity’s construction efforts at The Heights, a major redevelopment of the 112-acre former Hillcrest Golf Course on St. Paul’s vibrant and diverse East Side. Over the coming five years, Twin Cities Habitat will build 147 affordable homeownership opportunities on four city blocks, roughly 12 acres, making it our largest development to date. Habitat will build a mix of single-family and multi-family homes.
In partnership with the City of St. Paul, St. Paul Port Authority, Sherman Associates, and JO Companies, the broader development with deliver more than 1,000 housing units, 1,000 jobs, and a new community with greenspaces and amenities. The project prioritizes sustainability, community connectivity, affordable housing, and outdoor amenities, providing the largest modern-day investment in the East Side. The Heights has the potential to be one of the most energy efficient developments ever created in Minnesota. View a map of the site!
