Lend A Hand

Every volunteer can make a difference, and here at Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity we have many different opportunities for you to make an impact on your community.

There are many ways to lend a hand at Habitat! Read a bit about our current opportunities below, select the ones you are interested in learning more about and submit the form on this page. Once we receive the form, our Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to find the perfect role that fits with your schedule and interests!

Home Repair

We preserve homeownership by helping low-income homeowners repair and maintain their homes through our A Brush With Kindness program.

Spring/Summer Schedule: Tue-Fri | 8:30am-4:00pm
Fall/Winter Schedule: Mon-Fri | 9:00am-4:30pm

  • One Day At A Time: Sign up for individual opportunities as they fit into your schedule. View our One-Day home repair opportunities.
  • Regular Crew: We’re recruiting A Brush With Kindness regulars! Volunteer a couple days a month (or more) with the same core group of volunteers. Fill out the Express Interest form below to get started.

Homebuilding

We're best known for our Homeownership program where volunteers build and rehab simple, quality homes in partnership with families and the community. No construction experience necessary. 

Spring/Summer schedule: Mon - Fri | 9am - 3pm
Fall/Winter Schedule: Tues - Sat | 9am - 3pm

  • One Day At A Time: Sign up for individual opportunities as they fit into your schedule. View our current One-Day opportunities.
  • Regular Crew: Volunteer a couple days a month (or more) with the same core group of volunteers.
  • House Month: Volunteer on-site at least three days a week for at least three weeks.
  • Women Build offers a unique approach toward achieving Habitat’s mission. At a Women Build construction site, not only do women provide the volunteer labor and the financial support, but each project is managed start to finish by an experienced woman site supervisor from the Twin Cities Habitat staff.

ReStore

The Twin Cities Habitat ReStore is a home improvement outlet where quality new and like-new building and repair materials are sold at discounted prices. Unlike our construction opportunities, ReStore shifts are 3-4 hours long.

Tuesday-Friday: 10am-2pm or 2pm-6pm
Saturday: 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm

  • One Day At A Time: Sign up for individual opportunities as they fit into your schedule.
  • Sales Floor Regular: Keep the store stocked, looking good, and accessible for shoppers. Commit to volunteer at least once per week.
  • Regular Cashier: Provide customer service and help customers during checkout. Commit to volunteer at least once per week.
  • Donations Pick-Up Regular: Help us get more stock by riding along with and assisting the ReStore truck driver. Commit to volunteer at least one full day per week.

We currently operate two Twin Cities ReStore locations: 510 County Road D, New Brighton; and 2700 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis

Events & Support

Throughout the year, Twin Cities Habitat works to engage volunteers and donors in a variety of events. 

Direct Outreach Volunteers attend various events around the Twin Cities and represent the organizationwhat we do, and how to get involved. 

Cookie Bakers provide treats in recognition of our volunteers on construction sites and at the ReStore.

Youth Engagement

Habitat Youth Leaders are middle and high school aged youth that have a deep connection to Habitat and are interested in learning valuable leadership skills. Habitat Youth Leaders will volunteer with Habitat, fundraise on behalf of Habitat and educate family, friends and classmates about Habitat’s work in the Twin Cities.
