Gala raises $485,000 to support affordable housing

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity hosted our annual Hard Hat and Black Tie Gala on Saturday, April 21 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. This was a change in location from previous years, as the event has outgrown our prior venue. With a total of 800 guests, 38 volunteers and 26 committee members, the change to the RiverCentre was greatly appreciated.

hhbt3 The night wouldn't be complete without legos, games and an appearance by disco band Boogie Wonderland. Games were a hit with kids of all ages and included Habitat classics like 'Jumbo Block Tower,' 'Pin the Roof on the House,' 'Feel that Tool' and 'Flip the Paint Can.' Dinner featured delicious food, a live auction and video of children who live in Habitat homes. The attire for the evening was a cross between formal dress and construction wear. The winner of the 'fashion' show was wearing a dress made almost entirely of duct tape!

HHBT1Our Fund-A-Need portion of the night was wildly successful. Our goal was to raise $180,000, but we surpassed it with a total of $219,000 in donations. Thanks to all who helped us reach our grand total of $485,000 for the night.
