Making affordable housing a priority in Minneapolis
Guest blog by Caitlin Magistad, Twin Cities Habitat Advocacy Associate
Last week new Census data was released, and there is a lot of new, important information to take away about housing. With Election Day coming up and the legislative session just a couple of months later, housing advocates can benefit from being knowledgeable about the state of housing in Minnesota. This Census data shows exactly why we need to care about affordable housing and why it should be a priority at the legislature.
One of our partner organizations, Minnesota Housing Partnership, has crunched all of the numbers into simple statistics that advocates can use when talking to legislators, other members of their communities, family, etc. and we invite you to do so! Having facts and statistics that highlight the need of affordable housing can help put the issue into perspective for those who may not have as much information. To see the summary of the data, please visit MHP’s blog here.
