Habitat's Upcoming All Veteran Build Day

Habitat's Upcoming All Veteran Build Day

Things at Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity’s Veterans Initiative are progressing smoothly. We are reaching out to our Beyond the Yellow Ribbon network, as well as the County Veteran Service Officers around the seven county metro area to help find Veterans who may benefit from Habitat's programs and services. You can learn more about Habitat Homeownership, A Brush With Kindness, Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Program, and Veteran requirements on our site.

Serving Those Who Served

In addition to serving the Veteran population, Habitat also offers opportunities for military members to make a difference within their communities. Volunteer opportunities are available that enable Veterans to volunteer with other Veterans, which can be beneficial for both the individual and the surrounding neighborhoods. Volunteering alongside fellow service men and women can also help individuals find a sense of purpose and meaning, and help them gain back some of that camaraderie they felt while they served. Habitat volunteers are a shining example of what citizens can do within their communities to aid in creating strong bonds between neighbors.

Our upcoming All Veteran Build Day is being held on January 25, 2014 at our Robbinsdale build site. We encourage all Veterans to sign up to volunteer and start making connections. As a Marine Corps Veteran myself, I have enjoyed building on site as a way to clear my head.  There is something about doing manual labor that is very rewarding.  As the Veteran Outreach Coordinator, I will be there building on as many Veterans’ build days as I can. Hopefully we can all share some experiences from our military days together.

We hope to see you out on site!
