Resolve to Volunteer in 2015!

Resolve to Volunteer in 2015!

2015_resizedIt's the beginning of the New Year and many people are making resolutions to start the year off with a bang! Some of the most common resolutions involve eating healthier, losing weight, being more organized, saving more money, breaking bad habits, or finishing house projects. We thought we'd suggest one more resolution to add to the list - VOLUNTEER

Volunteering not only has an amazing impact on the local community and economy, it can also provide wonderful benefits to the individual volunteer! Research shows the people who volunteer often experience higher rates of life satisfaction, have healthier hearts (literally), and are more likely to live a long life. Convinced to add volunteering to this year's "to do" list? Great! Let's find the perfect opportunity for you.

How To Help

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity provides a variety of ways for community members to get involved and help support the Habitat mission. Some of the most common ways that people volunteer with Habitat for Humanity involve working on a Habitat build or rehab project, or assisting with home repairs through the A Brush with Kindness program. But there are many more opportunities to help out!

ReStore
Support the staff at the Twin Cities ReStore (Habitat's Home Improvement Outlet store) as a cashier, sales floor regular, metal recycling volunteer, help desk volunteer, or donations pick up assistant.

Family Services
Work directly with the families served through Habitat's programs and services as a Homeownership Explorations Session Assistant, Home Interviewer, Neighborhood Family Partner, or A Brush with Kindness Home Interviewer.

Events and Support Volunteers
Habitat relies on a number of volunteers to make each of our events, including home dedications, a success. We also have special volunteers that bake cookies that are shared with our volunteers on-site as a thank you for their hard work!

If you're not able to sign up for an opportunity today, be sure to subscribe to our Volunteer E-Newsletter to be informed of new opportunities and upcoming needs at Twin Cities Habitat!

We hope you consider joining us on-site, in the ReStore, or as part of our Office and Support team this year. Your talents and dedication will not only be appreciated - but are the reason that we are able to serve a large number of Twin Cities families each year. We wish you all the best in the New Year!
